Berlin. The ALBA Group congratulates the ALBA BERLIN basketball team and its U14, JBBL and NBBL youth teams on a sensational season.
The youngest professional team in the Basketball-Bundesliga (Federal Basketball League) led by Head Coach Alejandro “Aíto” García Reneses was runner-up to the German Basketball Championship title in a thrilling final against FC Bayern yesterday evening.
The Albatrosses’ youth teams are also looking back on a successful season. ALBA BERLIN is the first club that has won three titles in the youth leagues in one season.
Dr Axel Schweitzer, CEO of ALBA Group, emphasises: “We don’t just give sustainability top priority in our everyday work but also believe in it with our sponsoring. Good techniques, total commitment and trust in our youth are what the ALBA Group shares with the basketball players from ALBA BERLIN. This trust and the intensity that is invested in youth work is paying off. That makes us really proud.”
Head Coach Alejandro „Aíto“ García Reneses: “It’s a shame that it wasn’t quite enough for the title in the end. But I am very proud of my team, which has developed superbly during this season. We played attractive and successful basketball with a very young team and had the chance to win the championship right up to the end. ALBA is a great programme, being runner-up to the Championship title and the Championship titles in the U19, U16 and U14 leagues speak for themselves. We are going to build on this. I would like to thank our great fans who have given us fantastic support throughout the season.”
