Germany’s new Commercial Wastes Ordinance entered into force on 1 August 2017. This aims to raise recovery rates for commercial waste and so to boost recycling. Both for municipal waste and construction and demolition waste, there are additional obligations with regard to the separate collection of various waste types. Comprehensive documentation is also required. Traders must verify and document waste management pathways for packaging, waste electrical and electronic equipment and batteries with the aid of a waste management officer.
